NSW Department of Primary Industries would like to invite you to help celebrate recreational fishing and its contribution to the local residents and businesses of the Hunter Region.

This year the day coincides with the national ‘Gone Fishing Day’ and will aim to promote fishing as a fun and healthy pastime for the entire family.

The main focus of the event will be to promote sustainable and ethical fishing practices, whilst giving people the opportunity to try fishing in a safe and fun environment.

There will be free activities, displays and giveaways including:

  • A catch and release fishing workshop for families
  • Advisory displays: NSW DPI Bluey trailer (rules and regulations), RMS boating safety and life jacket display, Marine Parks advisory, PCYC van, NSW DPI responsible fishing display and a kids corner based around fishing (face painting, touch tank, games etc).
